Teresa has described my uncle quite beautifully and accurately. Tio Adriano was a man I have always and will continue to respect. He is indeed a rare individual who could carry himself consistently with poise and a quiet inner strength. With such a large family, it is often difficult to spend adequate time with loved ones at gatherings. I cherish the memory of the time I once traveled the island of Sao Miguel with only Tio Adriano and two of his sisters. Spending the day speaking and engaging with my uncle undisturbed will remain in my heart forever. My Father befriended, understood and always respected Adriano...I get it Dad. Tia Carmen, Michael, Sharon, Melissa and all else connected to my uncle take comfort in knowing he is a loved and admired man.

Love always, your nephew Michael

I remember Adriano as a gentle spirit whose quiet tenderness was so evident to all of his family and friends. Though he suffered more than many during his life, Adriano endured it all always with grace, patience, courage and benevolence never allowing his own pain and suffering to rail against others. He tolerated his disappointments, life's tragedies and his ill health with tremendous patience and a visible determination not to burden others! His beautiful spirit of acceptance and tolerance was notable in his lifelong vow never to speak ill of others regardless of the circumstances! Adriano embodied God's love for others not just in his actions and words but also in his humility! Adriano is a spirit from whom we can learn many life lessons and who we should hope to emulate in our own lives! His loving parents, his brother, Jose Francisco, and his niece, Angie to name just a few, no doubt, welcomed Adriano into his new life with joy and warm embraces! Adriano, may your soul be celebrating in heaven, a state you have so richly earned, with your beloved family members! Here on earth, may all his close-knit family members, especially Carmen, Melissa, Adriana, Idalina and Fatima, feel Adriano's gentle, patient and benevolent spirit transform into the joy of Adriano's new life!

With so much love, Teresa, Dom and Alyssandra
