Angela Pannozzo
May 7, 1944 – March 9, 2023
Loved for 78 years.
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Angela Pannozzo, loving mother, wife, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. On Thursday, March 9, Angela passed away peacefully joining her husband of 54 years, Giovanni and her parents Alfredo and Filomena Picano.
Loved by all those left behind, including her 3 sons, Joe (Anne), Nino (Angela), Lucio (Kerry Ann), her 5 grandchildren, Jessica (Zachary), Daniel, Mariangela, Marco and Tyler, and 3 great-grandchildren, Avery, Cora and Hannah.
Always remembered by her sisters, Assunta (Michele Spirito), Francesca (The Late Benedetto Pecchia), Elvira (Antonio Pecchia), and brother Paolo (Rita Picano), sister in-laws Phyllis (Italo Pannozzo), Maria (The late Domenico Pannozzo) and brother in-law Antonio (The late Maria Del Duca). She also enjoyed celebrating special occasions with her many nieces and nephews.
Angela was an incredibly strong, independent and hard-working woman. Loyal 35-year employee of the Granite Club doing what she loved best, cooking amazing food and sharing with others.
Angela came to Canada at 18 years old with her new husband. She learned to speak English, drive a car and was very proud when she received her Canadian Citizenship.
She loved hosting numerous family get-togethers and meals, including Christmas, New Years, Easter, Thanksgiving, showers, anniversaries and birthdays. She would design multiple course Italian feasts with lasagna, gnocchi, turkey, side dishes, tiramisu and a variety of unbelievable cookies.
When not working, cooking or taking care of her grandchildren, she was a passionate gardener, waking up early in the morning to tend to her garden for hours, growing fresh delicious vegetables which, she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
Angela continued to show strength to the end surrounded by her family. Her strength, independence loving and generous nature will live on in all of us. Rest in peace Mom, Nonna – we love you and thank you.
Special thanks to family and friends who made regular visits during her last few months, bringing her favourite foods and special treats. These always brought a smile to her face.
Thank you also to the Sinai and Baycrest Palliative Care teams for all your efforts during her final months and days.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Angela may be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
