Obituary for Antonia Grande

Our hearts are broken as we announce the passing of Antonia Grande, our beautiful mother. Antonia passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 93. She is now reunited in heaven with her loving husband Giovanni and her daughter Cesidia. Cherished by her children Maria (late Victor Vaitekunas), Irma (Jules Bergeret), and Cesidio (Mela). Proud Nonna of Victoria (Nathan), Jacqueline (Daniel), Brianna, Isabella, and Angelo. Dear sister of Fabiano Coccia (Rita). Pre-deceased by her sisters Callipia Gentili and Claudia Coccia (Domenico). Zia Antonia loved all her nieces and nephews, near and far. She will be held dear in their hearts.

She had a warm smile and a kind and gentle manner that drew everyone towards her. Our mother's greatest love was her family, but there is a sneaking suspicion she loved her grandchildren - her life's treasures - most of all. She loved spending time in her garden, having coffee on the front veranda with her neighbours, beating us all in a game of Scopa (with a smile), walks in High Park, and sharing her home cooked meals with family and friends. Beloved Nonna to not just her own grandchildren, but to all the children she met. Her guiding light will be missed by all of those who were fortunate to be a part of her life.

Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home – Dufferin Chapel (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Friday February 3, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Antonia’s memory at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church (640 Glenholme Ave. at Eglinton Ave. W.) on Saturday February 4, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery (8361 Yonge St., Thornhill)
