Obituary for Arpalice (Lucy) Fongaro

FONGARO, Arpalice (Lucy)

Arpalice is now reunited with her beloved husband, Antonio Fongaro, with whom she shared many wonderful years of marriage. Born on March 17, 1927, in Italy and passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 in Toronto.

A devoted and hardworking mother, known for her dedication and strength.

She is survived by her loving children, Daniela, John, and Mike, who meant the world to her. Cherished mother-in-law to Nancy and Heather Fongaro. Arpalice adored her grandchildren, Brandy (Brian), Anthony, and Alannah, and though Jimmy has passed away, his memory remains alive in her heart. Proud great-grandmother to Thomas and Mason.

Arpalice spent 12 years of her life working diligently at Hugo Boss in Italy before relocating to Toronto, Canada, where she dedicated 38 years of her career to Berrymore Carpets. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her love and devotion to her family. Arpalice (Lucy) Fongaro will be remembered fondly for her unwavering love, strength, and dedication to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and love that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Relatives and friends are welcomed to the Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 2 – 5, 6 – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church (1037 Bloor St., east of Dufferin St.) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery (1450 St. Clair Ave., east of Caledonia Road).

In memory of Arpalice and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
