Obituary for Caterina Sanginiti (Macri)

Caterina Sanginiti

September 14, 1923 – September 16, 2022

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Caterina on September 16, 2022, just days after her 99th birthday. She is now reunited with our dad, Giuseppe (November 15, 1988). Beloved mother of Antonio (Giulia), Maria (Domenico Sestito), Vincenzo (Franca), Franca (Franco Russo), Giovanni, Liberata (Vito Venneri), Domenic (Maxine), Mario (Lucy) and Immacolata – Maggie (George Liambas). A proud nonna to 24 grandchildren, bisnonna to 37 great-grandchildren and trisnonna to 1 great-great grandchild (plus one more on the way), she will forever be in their hearts. Caterina is survived by her brother Vito and her sister-in-law’s Francesca and Maria Macri.

A fierce woman who embodied strength, determination, love and passion. Her love and dedication to her family were unwavering. She built the foundation of this amazing legacy, and all who are left behind will truly feel her absence.  Her warm, infectious smile and kind words of wisdom will be greatly missed. She will be smiling down on everyone that was lucky to have known her. Loved yesterday, today and always and forever.  Rest in Eternal Peace you earned it.

Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 2-4, 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Ave. W., at Dufferin St.) on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. For those unable to attend, Caterina's Funeral Mass will be livestreamed via St. Charles Borromeo's YouTube page.

Caterina will be laid to rest with her husband at Prospect Cemetery (1450 St. Clair Ave. W., east of Caledonia Rd.).

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Caterina may be made to the Candian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
