Obituary for Ersilia Sortino

Ersilia Sortino

July 13, 1945 – August 9, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ersilia on August 9, 2022.  At 11:04 pm she quietly took her last breath with her family around her. While she fought this terrible illness with everything she had, we can now take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and is at peace.  She was the most amazing wife, mother, sister, Zia, Nonna and friend.  She leaves behind her beloved husband Cataldo and her children Nadia (Domenic Monteleone), Faby and Ross (Angela).  She was an extremely proud Nonna of 3 wonderful grandchildren – Gabriel, Lucas and Vienna. She will be missed by her siblings in Canada, France, and Italy – Gaetano, Iolanda and Lilla along with the numerous nieces, nephews, and friends around the world.

Coming from a large family of 10 siblings, even at a very young age, her main priority was always the wellbeing of her family. She was a small lady and lived a simple life, but she was a matriarch and giant with the impact she had on those around her. She adored children and always wanted them around, even before she had her own grandchildren she always asked nieces and nephews to bring their children around to see her.  With the arrival of her own grandchildren, she was overjoyed and looked at them as her own special gifts and she created her own special bond with each one.  She will be missed by all.
