Obituary for Fiorella Drudi

Fiorella Drudi (nee Angeloni) died peacefully on October 25, 2022. She spent her final days surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 27, 1930, in Gubbio, Perugia, Italy. The third of four daughters of Cesare Angeloni, she was raised by her stepmother, Asunta, after losing her mother Irene in her infancy.

She left her hometown in the late 1950s for Toronto. It was here that she met Pio Drudi, a fellow Italian immigrant. They married in 1959 and built a life together in Canada where they raised their children, Irene and Carlo.

Fiorella was a woman of incredible talents. A gifted seamstress, she sewed beautiful dresses for herself, her daughter, and her granddaughters, and kept the windows of her home appointed in expertly made drapery. She was a virtuoso in the kitchen, regularly hosting her family for multi-course lunches and feasts. She paid just as much attention to the exterior of her home, delighting as much in the size and colour of her tomatoes as in the scent of her roses. She did it flawlessly, effortlessly, shrugging off all compliments.

She spent the last year of her life with Pio at Villa Colombo. Her family is grateful to the staff there who took such thoughtful care of her.

She will be deeply missed by Pio, her husband of 63 years, and their children and their spouses: Irene and Sergio, Carlo and Rosalinda; her grandchildren and their partners: Cassandra and Dennis, Zachary and Jaleh, Jonathan and Nimisha, Catherine and Jason; her great-grandchildren Dashiell and Jude; her sister Velia Corrente; her sisters-in-law Marcellina Foschi, Antonietta Drudi and Frances Marchese; and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Graziella Angeloni and Pia Ceccotti.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Bernardo Funeral Homes Dufferin Chapel. A funeral mass is scheduled for October 29 at 11 a.m. at Bernardo Funeral Homes, with interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society Toronto and Villa Charities Foundation.
