Obituary for Giovanni Giorgio
It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend Giovanni Giorgio.
Giovanni passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, April 16, 2020. He was a devoted and loving husband of 60 years to his wife Giuseppina; loving father to his sons Vincenzo (Maria), Joseph (Irene) and a proud, loving grandfather to Stefano and Julia. Giovanni will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Antonio (Antonietta), Giuseppina Magisano, Giuseppe (Marian) and Angelo (Silvana) as well as his cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
Giovanni was born in Chiaravalle Centrale, Cantanzaro, Italy on June 24, 1933 to Vincenzo Giorgio and Caterina Facciolo. He met his beautiful and loving wife Giuseppina Cortese in Italy, and were married on March 24, 1960. Giovanni immigrated to Canada in 1963 to make a better life for his family. He found work and a place to live for his wife and sons, who later joined him in Toronto, Canada in 1966. Giovanni was a resilient and hard working man who devoted himself to his family. He worked at several jobs before finding permanent employment with a utility company. He was very proud of his twenty-five years of service. Giovanni enjoyed telling stories about his life with laughter and with sadness. Despite all the challenges he faced, he made a promise to always take care of his family. Even when his health was compromised he kept his commitment to care and support his loving family. Giovanni will be forever remembered by his family, relatives and friends.
