Obituary for Salvatore Pasquali

PASQUALI, Giuseppe Salvatore

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Salvatore “Sal” Pasquali, on March 31, 2021 at the age of 86 at the Humber River Hospital. Beloved husband of 62 years to Ilde.  He will be greatly missed by his children Maurice, Lori (Steve), and Carlo (Kally). Proud and cherished nonno to Christian, Lauren (Adam), Charlie and Elizabeth. Reunited with his parents, Umberto and Elisabetta and his in-laws Egisto and Genesia Ceccanese. He will be forever in the hearts of his siblings in Italy: Anna (Giuseppe +), Tarcisio (Adriana), Gina (Silvestro), the late Luigi (Paola), Agnese (Aldo), Lucia (Giancarlo), Geremia (Meris) and Antida (Flavio). He will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Lina De Carolis (Ferdinando +) and Romana Ceccanese (Angelo +). Zio Salvatore will be missed by his many nieces and nephews in Italy and the surrounding Toronto area.

The last thirteen years of his valiant recovery from an accidental brain injury have marked his life with admirable “perseverance, courage, boldness, passion and constant prayer”. God called him home to take his final rest during Holy Week, a time also marked by suffering and much prayer. Since that fateful day in January 2008, Ilde, his devoted wife and caregiver, played an extraordinary role in helping Sal fight long and hard to stay with all of us. His outgoing, fun-loving and fiery spirit will be forever cherished in our hearts.

In light of the new provincial orders surrounding the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, our family has made the difficult decision to hold a private visitation and funeral mass. We truly appreciate all our friends and relatives who have expressed interest in attending but ultimately, we feel that the safety of everyone is of the utmost importance.

Family and friends are welcome to participate virtually on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live via St. Charles Borromeo’s YouTube page:

A private entombment will follow at Westminster Cemetery.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Humber River Hospital or charity of your choice would be welcomed by the family.
