Obituary for Ida Rosaria Mauro (Mandarino)
It is with profound sorrow, we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt Ida Mauro, on May 24, 2020 at the age of 87. Predeceased by her beloved husband Raffaele (September 23, 2018). Cherished mother of Cathy, Nella (Mike Peltenburg) and Sandra (Luis Sousa). Proud Nonna of Daniel, Aaron, Adam and Mitchell. Forever remembered by her siblings, she will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and their families.
During this unprecedented situation with COVID-19, it is with very heavy hearts that our family has made the difficult decision to hold a limited attendance funeral with our immediate family, in honor of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Ida Mauro. As of April 7, 2020, the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (the BAO) has implemented a directive of 10 people MAXIMUM in the entire funeral home at any given time (not including staff). We have chosen to do this to minimize the threat of spreading the coronavirus. Ultimately, we recognize that the health and safety of our family and friends comes first. For those wishing to view the funeral service, we are providing the service virtually via Zoom. Please reach out to Sandra Sousa at sandrasousa@sympatico.ca to get the link and password. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Private entombment will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Please note that cemeteries fall under the same rule of 10 maximum. Please do not come to the funeral home to follow in procession.
We would like to thank St. Michael’s Hospital specifically the Nephrology Department and those who were involved with our mother’s excellent care during and after her illness specifically Mario Mandarino.and Graca Maria Nunes. We, the family thank you all and will never forget.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kidney Foundation in memory of Ida.
A tribute and celebration of her life will be held at a later date, when it is safe to do so.
