Obituary for Joe Di Geso

Joe Di Geso

May 24, 1926 – April 15, 2023

After a long and happy life dedicated to his family, Joe passed away peacefully on April 15, 2023 at the age of 96.

He will be forever loved and missed by his dear wife Maria. He will join his daughter Melina in Heaven. He was a loving father to Rosa (Rocco), Irene (Rico), Gino (Silvana) and proud Nonno to Dominic, Joey, Maria Pasqua, Pasqua, John, Marcus, Noah, Sarah, Raquel, and Noemi and great grandfather to 10 grandchildren. He will be sorrowfully missed by all his family, relatives, and many friends.

Joe was born in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy on May 24, 1926. He immigrated to Canada on April 15, 1950 when he eventually started his own floor cleaning business. Following that, with guidance from his mentors, he was able to pursue his love of real estate and become a successful entrepreneur. He stayed passionate and continued to work until the age of 95, while enjoying his relationships with colleagues and business partners. His positive attitude and limitless generosity bound him to people in all ways of life.

Although his life was centered in Toronto, Joe kept close ties with his family and friends in Italy, returning yearly. Joe lived a full and happy life with the love of family and family gatherings which he deeply enjoyed. Beyond his storytelling, he was a genuine family mentor. His experiences in life and deep wisdom will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 10:.00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Avenue West, at Dufferin Street).  Burial to follow at a later date in Italy.
