Obituary for Lodovica Pedretti

Lodovica Pedretti

February 3, 1928 – October 3, 2022

Our Mom and Nonna passed away peacefully early Monday morning at the age of 94. Her long life centered around family, faith and giving. Mom lived simply and gave generously, believing her needs to be secondary.  She will remain in our hearts and minds and in our actions for as long as we are around. Mom to John (Angela), Steve (Lori), Jim (Alise), Nonna to Veronika (Scott Wilton), Michael, Jason, Chiara, Bianca and little Aidan James. Predeceased by dad (Mansueto) and her siblings Antonietta (Giuseppe), Giulia (Vittorio), Paula (Anselmo), Michele (Lidia) Giulio (Giovana) and Vito (Narcissa). Survived also by sister Fortunata (Giulio), sister-in-laws Lidia, Narcissa and Giovana as well as many nieces and nephews both here and in Italy. Mom came to Canada in the mid-50s during the Italian diaspora. While she missed her homeland and the family she left behind, she fully embraced her new home, and we suspect the label Italo-Canadian would have seemed odd to her.  She, like many other immigrants, helped in her own humble way create the Canada we are so fortunate to live in today. Thanks Mom.

Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret of Scotland Church (222 Ridley Blvd. – Avenue Rd., south of Wilson Ave.) on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Lodovica will be laid to rest with her husband at Beechwood Cemetery (7241 Jane St., south of Highway 407). The family asks that all guests attending please wear masks.

In memory of Lodovica, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
