Obituary for Lucio Tarcisio Nespolo

NESPOLO, Lucio

Born: May 24, 1952 in Mansue, Treviso, Italy.  Died: April 26, 2022 in Toronto, Ontario, surrounded by his loving family.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucio Nespolo, beloved husband of Josie for 39 years.  Cherished father of David (Daniella) and Stephanie (Danny).  Loving brother of Marilena (Luigi), and Robert (Valerie).  Proud grandfather of Noah, Addison and Luke.  Esteemed brother-in-law of Angela (Donato).  Dearly respected uncle of Kristin, Jennifer, Adam, Emily, Hannah, Arianna, and great uncle of Sarina.

Family was very important to Lucio and he loved spending time with them. He instilled a strong sense of closeness, warmth, and support for each other.  He loved summers in Florida with his family and friends where everyone was welcome and happy memories were made.  More recently his grandchildren gave him the greatest happiness. He  enjoyed playing with them, taking them for walks in the park, tobogganing, and swimming. Likewise, his grandchildren adored their Nonno and would light up when they would visit together.

Lucio spent his career as a dedicated accountant. He enjoyed being active throughout his life.  In his younger days, he was a long distance runner, having run the Ottawa marathon, and rower with the Toronto Argonaut Rowing Club and represented Canada at the Royal Henley Regatta in London, England.  He engrained a sense of physical activity on his family with activities such as skiing, hockey, running, skating, golfing, and cycling.  He became an avid cyclist in his later years participating in many cycling events such as the Rideau Lakes Ride and other charity events.  Lucio had a gift of working and creating with his hands.  Following in his father’s footsteps, he continued to apply the trades of construction throughout his life, with various personal projects.

Lucio had an unwavering faith and always upheld a strong foundation of moral values and love. He was an active member of his church community participating and volunteering in various capacities.  He had an extremely generous spirit, always giving of his time, providing guidance, and never refused to help others, including strangers.

We are grateful for all the many treasured memories.  We will miss him deeply, and he will forever live in our hearts.
