Obituary for Madalena Cannatella

CANNATELLA, Madalena

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Madalena Cannatella, also known as Zia Maddy. Our Zia Maddy loved her life and cherished her nieces Jessica, Alessandra, Isabella and Greta.

We knew little the night of July 29 2022 that Zia Maddy was going to leave us. Maddy was a selfless Zia and treated her nieces like her own.  Madalena will be forever remembered by her nieces Jessica, Alessandra, Isabella and Greta and her son in law Ricardo Giron. Sadly missed by her sister Maria Brancati and brother in law Alex Brancati and her parents Teresa and Pasquale Cirasella. As well as her dear friends Nella, Angie and Karen.

Zia Maddy was a mother figure to her nieces. She did everything with her nieces , was immensely proud of all our accomplishments and our greatest cheerleader. Zia Maddy had a caring heart and knew the value of forgiveness, and treated people kindly even when they did not deserve it.

Zia Maddy we will always remember our summer outings where we hopped on the TTC and you took us all around North York. In particular our memories on Orfus Road and at the nail salon.

Zia Maddy we will miss all the nights where we would hang out at your condo and laugh our heads off.  All our breakfasts at Peter G’s and our dinners at Buzz Buzz.

Zia Maddy your sense of humour made us laugh like no one else could.  You bragged about your nieces any chance you could get because you were so proud of us.

Zia Maddy we will miss our FaceTime calls where we would talk hours on end. You were the person who was always there for us and loved us unconditionally.

Zia Maddy you loved the simple pleasures in life. Every time I have a pina colada I will think of you.

Zia Maddy was whip smart. Her memory was sharp like an Ox. Anytime we forgot something important like a birthday Zia Maddy always knew the answer.  You were strong willed and determined about anything you set your mind to.

Zia Maddy you had a sense of fashion that could kill. The most stylish Zia I’ve ever known. Cheetah print was your favourite and you rocked it.

Zia Maddy you were a social butterfly and had more friends than we could count. This is because your positive energy was contagious. You lit up any room you walked into. You wore your heart on your sleeve and helped all the elderly ladies in your condo.

Zia Maddy you loved to celebrate life. Your 60th Birthday is one we will always cherish.

Zia Maddy you are remembered always in our hearts and your legacy lives on.

Zia Maddy our Angel this is not a good bye only a see you later. You are our Angel in heaven now until we meet again.
