ROMANO, Michele

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Michele Romano on March 9, 2021 at the age of 89. He is now reunited in heaven with his predeceased wife of over 67 years, Annunziata. Michele will be sadly missed by his children Caterina, Graziano (Lucy), Mary (Ferdinando) and Anna (Filippo) and his grandchildren, Annette (Denny), Loreto, Robert, Steven (Taylor), Mark, Anthony, Michael, Laura, Nancy, Christina and his great grandchildren Elena and Olivia. He is predeceased by his brothers Joseph (Marisa) and Pasquale and sisters Maria Teresa, Antonietta & Giovanna. Remembered fondly as “Gentleman” for being honourable and showing kindness and generosity to everyone he would meet. He loved his family and taught us respect, humility and to live a religious life.

I will forever remember my Nonno Mike as a humble man with a heart of gold. Affectionately, with many years of service at the TTC, he was given the nickname, “Gentlemen”. He embodied that title. He took great pride in work and was first to volunteer his physical strength to any task, both at the TTC, and to family or friends with any “job” being done around the home. He was hospitable and generous and loved entertaining and welcoming guests into his home. He would jump up to grab a tray of “bicchierini” and with shaky hands pass them around, boisterously encouraging everyone to join in the toast. He lovingly spoiled his grandchildren, most of whom he and his wife Annunziata babysat and helped to raise, with trips to the park capped off with ice cream or yummy treats from the convenience store. Nonno Mike was a man of great faith with a deep commitment to prayer and church. His own example of treating others respectfully and with goodness of heart rubbed off on his children and truly is his greatest legacy, passed down the generations right to his great-grandchildren. I will miss my Nonno Mike but am comforted in knowing that he has joined his wife, my Nonna Nancy, in an afterlife together. It is one filled with the peace, and happiness, and fulfillment of the “gentle man and woman” together they were as a couple.

With living and loving memories in my heart forever,
Annette and family:
mom Kathy, grandson Denny, and great-granddaughters Elena and Olivia 💗💗
