It is with profound sorrow, we mourn the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Vittoria Catalano, on May 28, 2020 at the age of 92. Predeceased by her beloved husband Pietro (December 17, 2000). Cherished mother of Lily 'Catalano' Sorbara and proud nonna of Alyssa (Michael Parisi). Well respected mother-in-law to Domenic Sorbara, On that day, Vittorina was welcomed into the gates of heaven by her deceased siblings. She will be missed by her surviving sister, in-laws and nieces and nephews.

During this unprecedented situation with COVID-19, it is with very heavy hearts that our family has made the difficult decision to hold a private funeral with our immediate family, in honor of our dear mother and grandmother, Vittoria Catalano. We have chosen to do this in order to minimize the threat of spreading the coronavirus. Ultimately, we recognize that the health and safety of our family and friends comes first. We appreciate your love and support at this time, and we welcome your messages of condolence.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Vittoria.

A tribute and celebration of her life will be held at a later date, when it is safe to do so.

I was eighteen when I meet zia Vittorina for the first time, in 2012, when i went to Canada for my first time from Italy, she never know me before but I can feel her deep love and attachment to her italian relatives, same as in 2014 when I went back to Toronto with my dad, my mom and my brother...she showed us how she was so funny and sweet even if the Alzheimher has fully removed her recent memories. She was a great mother and nonna, a very sweet lady and a giant of woman with the strongest character and proud and dignity... same as the rest of the women of my beautiful family.

with truly beloved love, Antonio Librandi and all together Italian relatives.
We will miss you a lot.

It was Alyssa's wedding day. All the girls were getting ready. Lilly brought Nonna in to get hair and make up done. Lilly asked in Italian of she wanted lipstick. We all knew she was, but it was the motion she did when the make up girl went to put on her lipstick. Nonna puckered her lips outward, tilted her chin up and was ready to be beautified. No one told her what to do, no one showed her how to do it. It was just natural. What I noticed the most about her was she smiled with her eyes. The heart and soul are what keep the memories safe and forever. She raised two amazing women that I have gotten the pleasure of knowing. May she rest in peace.
