It is with profound sadness that the family of Rosa (Guerresi) Fabiano announce her passing on Sunday, February 14, 2021.

Rosa was beloved by her late husband Giovanni Fabiano. She was sister to predeceased siblings Vincenzo Guerresi and Franceschina (Guerresi) Cimorelli. She will be missed by sister Raffaela (Guerresi) Lucia. She will be deeply grieved by her children Carmela, Raffaella Grace (Giuseppe) and Pina (Luciano). She will be deeply missed by her grand children Giovanni, Juliet, Taddeo and Siena Rose.

Rosa was born in Sambiase, Lamezia Terme, Italy on June 11, 1941. She married her soulmate and together with optimism, “ baggage" and hope they-carved out a new life in Canada. Rosa was a talented dressmaker. She worked in Toronto’s Garment District and eventually for a notable designer.

Rosa had heart. Her human kindness was felt by all who met her. To many, Rosa was a friend, a mentor, a therapist and a confident. To her children she will always be a hero.

We are comforted to know our mother was well loved. Your outpouring of emotion was deeply felt. From Italy to USA to Canada we “hugged” and consoled in disbelief. In light of the pandemic the viewing, mass and burial will all take place on Thursday, February 18 and strict protocols will be observed. The viewing will be from 8am to 10:30am and times will be assigned to immediate family and friends.

A virtual visitation will be active between 7:45 - 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning via Zoom:

A private service will be held at St. Anthony’s Church. Rosa will be laid to rest next to her spouse at Westminster Cemetery. A memorial service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rosa may be made to the Cancer Society of Canada.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mount Sinai Hospital and Rosa’s palliative team for their care, compassion and dedication.

my heartfelt condolences to you and your sisters at the loss of your mom. Your mom was a part of the landscape on Delaware for as long as I can remember, always with a smile on her face and kindness in her heart it seems unreal to me that she will no longer be there as part of our extended family. May you find peace knowing that she will be remembered by many people for many years to come. Anna Torchia
